This is the first time ever that I have no thoughts of home. I love everything about the house, the spectacular views, the town of Cortona and the friendly people everywhere. Thank you for introducing us to such a wonderful place.

Your lovely villa has opened up an entire world to all of us. It's so charming, and such a retreat from our world. Words fail us in relating how much we enjoyed staying here. The people, scenery, wine, food, history and culture all experienced from this beautiful setting. It will stay with us in our hearts and memories for years to come. Grazie, Grazie!

We have had an excellent two weeks here. Thank you for letting us use your beautiful home. For the record, here are the things that particularly delighted our happy band of five:

  • The house, so beautifully furnished and so well-equipped. We felt very much at home here.
  • The location, the view and the tranquility
  • Cortona itself, just a nice size to explore and get to know
  • The nightingales and fireflies
  • The Hoopoe birds
  • Le Celle di San Francesco (Franciscan monastery nearby)
  • The food in the restaurants
  • The festivities, especially the flag-throwers
  • The first-weekend-of-the-month Antique Fair in the streets of Arezzo
  • Ice creams at Snoopy's in Piazza Signorelli, Cortona
  • Dry Martini's at La Saletta bar in Via Nazionale, Cortona
  • Florence by train was a good idea
  • Booking a few days in advance for the Uffizi gallery was an even better one
  • The beautiful pottery of De Ruta (1-hour drive from Cortona)

A really memorable holiday.

This is a wonderful place in the planet to totally unwind and relax - love to return some day.

It is hard to believe we have been here for a month. Our reflections are endless: the genuine and warm people we have met; the beauty of the city of Cortona and the sunflower filled landscape of the valley below. Our perch at La Certosa was perfect - it feels like a dream. We so appreciate this charming farmhouse. Thank you for the opportunity to feel its tranquility and comfort. We shall miss our walks along the road past what we affectionately call "our Duomo". As the church bells ring on this peaceful morning its time to say good-bye and thank you.

As we prepare for our final home-cooked Tuscan dinner, al fresco, and by candle light, we feel a true sense of melancholy about leaving this truly magnificent place. There is nothing less than perfect about this house, this town, this countryside, and, let me not fail to emphasize, a truly fabulous pool !

Some of our favourite things (many of which were recommended by previous writers):

  • Breakfasts on the patio (veranda)
  • Dinners on the patio (veranda)
  • The patio (veranda)
  • Watching shooting stars poolside (Milky Way directly overhead)
  • Evening excursion to San Gimignano (towers lit up by night)
  • Daytrip to Montepulciano
  • Bringing home superb wines and drinks from Molesini wine store in Piazza della Repubblica
  • Buying and eating sumptuous desserts from Banchelli's bakery in Via Nazionale
  • Hiking up to and down from Santa Margherita church and Fortezza Girifalco - amazing views!
  • Dinner at Il Falconiere - amazing outside dining
  • The Etruscan Museum in Piazza Signorelli
  • The Renaissance church art gallery in Piazza del Duomo

Truly though, we feel privileged to have shared in this beautiful place.
